Speak out to your representatives in the State Senate and Assembly and say...

I'm contacting you about Sober Living Homes.  ​While we are grateful for your efforts so far on the issues of "sober living homes," what matters is results.  Our permanent, Orange County residential zones, which form the fabric and lifeblood of our communities, are being overcome by excessive numbers of state licensed facilities; excessive numbers of unlicensed, transient recovery residences;  lax regulation; and infrequent inspection by the Department of Health Care Services.   Bad operators bring criminals--most often as employees--and crime into our neighborhoods and disproportionately engage with fire and police services.  Commercial housing is commercial housing regardless of whom it shelters, but state law denotes these businesses are families.  Our very real family needs you to FOCUS on this issue, build a coalition around it, propose a bill that offers relief to our neighborhoods and get it passed.  Nothing else you do is more important.
