Subject: Support AB 425

Dear Committee Staff,

The state of California has one set of standards for licensed facilities where those in recovery reside, and a separate set of standards for state certified recovery programs, which people attend outside of their living space.  The standards in licensed facilities are evidence-based, meaning they have emerged through proven testing, one type of which is ASAM treatment criteria.  The Department of Health Care Services indicates that such standards are necessary for sustained recovery.  Therefore, the state should require ASAM treatment criteria or an equivalent evidence-based standard for certified treatment as well.  Our family wants to ensure people in recovery are given appropriate care that helps them to sustained recovery, not hocus-pocus.  We support AB 425.

Thank you.
